Our Christmas journey

When I was young (a long time ago) Journey was one of my favorite bands (that is, the real Journey, pre-“Don’t Stop Believin'”). I saw them in 1980 on their “Departure” album tour, and it always struck me as a great record title for a band called Journey. For to take any journey you first have to take off… Well, that is what we are celebrating these last days of Advent 2024: the departure of Joseph and Mary and the Unborn Child Jesus to Bethlehem, where Jesus will enter the world he created in order to save it. The challenges the Holy Family faced were many, but we also face lots of challenges, and we can be united in journey with them. All it takes is trust in Emmanuel, “God with us”. By the way, of course the rock band Journey eventually released an album called “Arrival”. Whew!
